Learners from more than 40 high schools will participate in the VIBE (Vega Interschool Brand Experience) at The IIE’s Vega School of Brand Leadership’s campuses in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town on Saturday, 1 March 2014. The VIBE will give them the opportunity to experience the exciting world of brand building and help them understand the requirements of revolutionising brands in an innovative way.

Schools will compete as ‘mini brand consultancies’ for organisations looking for a unique and innovative way of coming up with ideas for brand building and marketing.  “This challenge was not designed to find the country’s best artist, designer, marketer or accountant. It was designed to get the creative juices of the learners flowing by challenging them to use their expertise and skills to build brands based on new ideas,” says co-founder of Vega, Dr. Carla Enslin.

The best performing team in each region will win a prize for delivering exceptional work in completing the challenge and the best school nationally will also win a prize. The top five schools in every region will also receive automatic entry into the 2015 VIBE because the Vega School of Brand Leadership likes to reward 21st century innovators.

In Johannesburg, Covenant College, Crawford College Lonehill, Crawford College Sandton, Kings School Linbro Park, Hoerskool Oosterlig, St Peters College, Parktown Girls High School and Germiston High School will participate. In Durban, Durban Girls High School, Durban High School, Wykenham Collegiate, Kingsway High School, Waterfall College, Durban Girls College, Eden College, Danville Girls High School, Northwood Boys High School, Crawford College North Coast and Thomas More will also take part.

Wynberg Boys High School, Herschel Girls High School, Fish Hoek High School, Constantia Waldorf School, Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard, Reddam House Constantia, The Settlers High School, Elkanah House, Milnerton High School and Stellenberg High School will participate in Cape Town. In Pretoria, St Mary’s DSG, St Albans College, Pro Arte, Hoerskool Wonderboom, Pretoria High School for Girls, Hoerskool Menlo Park, Pretoria Boys High School, Tygervalley College and Crawford College Pretoria will take part.

Vega believes that all artists were first amateurs and therefore the institution wants to equip learners with the tools to understand the language of branding by mastering the most basic but crucial aspect to brand building: communication.

We believe that the VIBE challenge will give students some practical and theoretical experience to give them a glimpse of the world of brand building and communication. Our doors are open to everyone who wants to revolutionise brands,” explains Enslin.

Vega is an educational brand of The Independent Institute of Education (The IIE).
