Happy New Year guys, I really hope you made it safely into the New Year! I am so excited to be writing articles that will help you go through your year smoothly. If you just passed matric and going to university or college, welcome to the real world!
I have always believed in planning with the end in mind, not with the first step in mind. This allows you to know where you are going; whatever happens on the way is simply the journey that you need to go through before you get to the stage that you want to be in.
Here are few are tips that will put you on you’re a game:
- Don’t set goals set targets –Goals are often hard to reach, they require you to be sure of what you want to do, calculate the risk and do all that boring stuff. But targets are not that way; if you have played a game of darts before you know that, in the middle of the board is the red dot. That red dot is your target. Once you throw your dart at the board, even if you do not hit the red dot, you still land somewhere. So that is what I want you to do. Target something and know that even if you do not make it, you will land somewhere. And that’s what matters!!! You will learn from this!!
- Work harder than the rest- There is always a thing about working hard that separates the good from the great. Tim Notke says that “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard”. And this is very true; the big names you know, work the hardest, your Jay Z’s, Sibusiso Leope’s and Oprah are the ones who are still awake when the rest are asleep. Because they understand that success is hard to maintain and harder to get. So once one becomes successful, he/she needs a game plan to keep the success. You now in school (high school, university, college) come up with a game plan of how you are going to make this year a success! And for me that game plan is hard work, don’t worry about working smart, just work hard. It will be pay off.
