As the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) continues the fight against alcohol and drug abuse ravaging the youth of South Africa, a Jobs for Youth Summit will be hosted in Eldorado Park, South of Johannesburg.

While the community of Eldorado Park is active with opportunity, the reality is that residents are still faced with a range of challenges, from unemployment and poverty to crime and substance abuse. Youth Month 2013 was celebrated under the theme Working Together for Youth Development and a Drug Free South Africa. It’s been over a year since this campaign was launched by government but the fight against substance abuse is far from over and requires ongoing, intensive efforts by all stakeholders.

The Jobs for Youth Summit will bring together a range of government departments, civil society groups and private sector stakeholders to share information about their products and services available to youth. The aim is to create awareness and to promote opportunities and in so doing fight alcohol and drug abuse with decent work for young people. Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements Jacob Mamabolo will be addressing the gathering.
