What makes Capsicum Culinary Studio different?

National Footprint
Capsicum Culinary Studio has a national footprint with 6 Campuses which are strategically located in major centres nationally. These include Boksburg, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria, Durban and Port Elizabeth Campuses. In 2013, we will also open a dedicated Hospitality School in the East Rand of Gauteng as well as a Culinary School in Bloemfontein.

All Inclusive Educational Offering
Included in Capsicum course fees is the following: an Apple iPad2, all ingredients during practicals, a set of chef’s knives, uniforms, examination fees, SACA membership for Chef students, free access to the internet, WiFi at all the Capsicum Campuses and access to the student resource centre which includes educational DVD’s as well as vast amounts of books for research.

International Partnerships
Capsicum has an exclusive International Association with Educational Institution, SEG. Capsicum graduates can further their studies at this prestigious institution and be placed in industry during this time. Capsicum also strives to add more partnerships to its growing list of associations.

Technologically Integrated Learning Platforms
Capsicum strives to always keep abreast with the latest trends and is the first Culinary School to use technologically integrated learning platforms in order to aid learning in as many ways as possible. These learning platforms ensure that the Capsicum students stay current with global Culinary events, trends and chefs. In addition, it allows sharing of experiences between students and campuses. The tool which will be used to facilitate this innovative learning experience is the cutting-edge tablet computer, the Apple iPad2. Capsicum has a dedicated Student Portal which students can use to make notes, exchange ideas with fellow students, arrange events and many more. This is a section dedicated to Students in order to make their learning experience as holistic as possible. Students will learn to write apps (applications) on their iPad2’s where they can store recipes, photographs etc., capturing their journey to becoming tech-savvy, next generation Chefs.

Placement
Part of Capsicum’s exclusive offering is the fact that all Capsicum graduates are assisted with local industry placements and we take it upon ourselves to make the entry into industry as easy as possible. Capsicum hosts an annual Industry Placement/Recruitment day across all Campuses. At this event, various industry establishments come to Capsicum Culinary Studio in order to recruit the Capsicum students to work at their establishments.

Workshops
During your studies at Capsicum, you will be exposed to various workshops as part of your studies. These workshops may include one or more of the following:

  • Writing Your CV for a job in the Culinary or Hospitality Industry

Exclusive Programme Offerings
Capsicum offers a Programme in Chocolate Arts and Confectionery, a first of its kind in South Africa. To ensure global standards for this progamme, state-of-the-art chocolate and pastry kitchens are now available in both the Cape Town and Johannesburg Campuses. In addition, Capsicum will be launching the Foundation Award in Management Principles.
