Business of Commerce Honours in Business Management
Admission requirements
In order for applicants to be considered for admission into the honours programme, they need to be in possession of a recognised BCom degree, which should include Business
Management at 3rd year level, Strategic Management at 3rd year level as well as Accounting, Economics and Statistics at 1st year level.
All current students at MGI studying BBA, BCom Marketing, BCom Human Resource Management and BCom Tourism will qualify to study the BCom Honours in Business Management provided they meet the above-mentioned entry requirements.
Students should have achieved at least an average of 60% during the exit year of the applicable qualification. Alternatively, recognition of prior learning (RPL) could be
considered.
Duration
The degree will be offered full-time over a one-year period.
Description
The BCom Honours in Business Management is a rigorous academic programme, with an emphasis on quantitative skills, which aims to produce skilled graduates with a broad understanding of the functional areas of business. Students will receive intensive and extensive exposure to progressive management theories and practical skills that will enable them to be well trained and competitive in the job market and which will motivate them to continue learning and further the development of their skills throughout their professional careers. The aim of the BCom Honours in Business Management programme is to produce graduates with a demonstrated high level of academic achievement, who understand the relationship between theory, research and practice and can use this understanding to effectively inform their behaviour.
Graduates with a BCom Honours in Business Management will be well prepared for their professional roles in market research, organisational development, project management and/or various forms of business consulting.

The BCom Honours in Business Management will consist of six fixed modules.

Students who fulfill all the requirements will be awarded the MGI Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Business Management degree.
Career options
Graduates with a BCom Honours in Business Management will be well prepared for their professional roles in market research, organisational development, project management and/or various forms of business consulting.
