Introduction

This programme is tailor-made to meet the needs of learners in the financial planning sector who require both management and specialist knowledge and skills. NMMU, in co-operation with the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI), is the first academic institution to offer a formal BCom degree in financial planning, giving access to membership of the FPI.

The FPI is the professional certification body for the financial planning industry in Southern Africa, carrying an international recognition by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Incorporated. The successful completion of the BCom (Financial Planning) programme leads to a professional qualification, Associate Financial Planner (AFP), awarded by the FPI.
