Graduation season commences in earnest at Welkom campus
The graduations season commenced in earnest at Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) Welkom Campus on 13 March 2015 when Dr Clement Moreku, Dr Luzaan Schlebusch and Dr Simon Sikosana received their Philosophiae Doctor: Education is degrees to reach a pinnacle of their academic achievement.
Both Dr Clement Moreku and Dr Luzaan Schlebusch are currently in the employ of the university and CUT is proud of their hard earned achievement and their contribution to the university as a true centre of learning in the region. Dr Sikosana is serving at Thabo Mofutsanyana Education District as a School Management and Governance Developer (SMGD).
Friends and family filled the Kingdom Ministries Hall to witness the auspicious occasion; excited applause and ululations rang out as the new graduates were called up the stage to receive their qualifications.
During the graduations ceremony 504 certificates, diplomas, and degrees were awarded. The campus produced three Masters and Doctoral degrees respectively – a significant achievement for the size of the campus (current student body is ± 2 500). Ms Rika Nel, Maria van der Merwe (both Cum Laude) and Victor Pele were awarded Magister Educationis degrees.
For March 2015, CUT will see 2981 graduates walking the stage at both campuses, a slight increase of graduates as compared with last year’s 2890. More graduations will be taking place at Bloemfontein campus this week (16 to 20 March) and a further 2477 students will be graduating.
