The WorldSkills SA (WSSA) National Competition is taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre this weekend until the 31st of January 2015.
The WordlSkills Competition occurs every two years and is the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in the world and has now for the first time come to South Africa. Participants demonstrate technical abilities to execute specific tasks for which they study and/or perform in the workplace.
In many parts of the world, youth have difficulties finding a job or entering the professional job market. At the same time, many employers struggle to find employees with the skills they need and educators have difficulties matching education with current market needs.

Main purpose of the WorldSkills Competition is to give visibility and importance to professional education as skills are the driving force behind successful careers, companies, thriving industries and economies. Attendees are provided with the opportunity to exchange information about best practices in the above mentioned industries and encourage youth to dedicate themselves to technical and technological careers.
