Monash South Africa has consistently demonstrated its commitment to South African higher education transformation objectives. This is evident from the rapid growth of the campus and quality academic offerings. The campus continues to be in a strong position through its association with its renowned parent institution, Monash University.

Monash University has taken another step towards its overarching ambition of becoming a globally networked university.  It has entered a partnership to grow its South African campus with Laureate International Universities, the world’s leading network of institutions of higher education.  This partnership will enable Monash South Africa to further contribute to addressing the key challenges facing higher education as outlined by the Ministry in the recently released Green paper for post-school education.

For more than a decade, Monash has played an important role in the development of higher education in South Africa. This partnership will enable Monash South Africa to grow and expand its presence in the region and throughout Sub-Saharan Africa by helping to educate the next generation of professionals.

Monash University Vice-Chancellor Ed Byrne said the partnership will allow Monash South Africa to continue to deliver a rich, distinctive student experience.

“The success of our joint campuses and graduate schools in China, India and Malaysia has proven that working with a carefully chosen partner is the most effective way to approach an offshore presence. With Laureate as our partner, we will be able to leverage the expertise and resources of their organization and combine it with our knowledge and track record for delivering the highest quality education for our students. “

Monash South Africa is committed to addressing the national higher education goals and providing students with curriculum content and learning experiences that extend beyond the country and continent. This partnership further supports the University’s global strategy and continued mission to deliver truly international experiences for its students.  “Today’s students need to be prepared for careers that could lead them anywhere in the world. Only a globally networked university can offer a truly international dimension to their education,” said Professor Byrne.

“We are honoured to partner with such an esteemed university as Monash,” said Douglas L. Becker, Chairman and CEO Laureate Education, Inc.  “Our team is committed to South Africa and to working with Monash to advance our shared goals to increase access to quality higher education for the country.”
