In 150 years Standard Bank Group has had the opportunity to help many communities grow. We were the first bank to operate in South Africa’s diamond and gold fields, the latter leading to the growth of the city of Johannesburg.
Education is key to development and we’ve always had it as a driver behind our community activities.
To celebrate the 150-year milestone Standard Bank Group has made an additional 150 bursaries and scholarships available over the next few years to South African youngsters who hold greater potential. These bursaries are aimed specifically at those wanting to study in the fields of Commerce, Science, Technology and Engineering.
This year’s recipients have just started their academic year. Come back to this site soon to meet a few of them.
Future recipients will include 40 post-graduate students who are reading at the universities of Witwatersrand, Cape Town and Pretoria. South African learners completing Grade 12 in 2013 may apply from October 2013. They will have to have maths and science, and attained an overall aggregate of 85%.
Details of the application process will be made available closer to the time in various independent and Standard Bank Group media.
