Simbarashe Mhere, a Bcom Accounting student at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), won the Top Billing presenter search competition 2010.
The announcement was made in Mauritius by Patience Stevens, executive producer of Top Billing on Thursday, 9 December 2010.
The 21 year old Zimbabwean born, also known as ‘Simba’ won the final round of the competition to beat his fellow contestant, Kalysha Naidoo. Furthermore, he is a newly permanent Top Billing presenter who will be also travelling the world and exploring new endeavors namely fashion, design, architecture, deco, nature etc.
“He’s someone whom we hope everybody will just love. He will hopefully be like your teddy bear – someone you will just love and who you’ll be able to relate to and feel can be your best friend”, said Patience Stevens.
Prior to the Top Billing presenter search competition, Simba, had shown a lot of interest and zeal that he wanted to be in the media industry by being a voice-over artist as well as doing other commercial ads. He will commence with his new job next year, 2011, moreover, he is very much excited to be the winner of the competition. ”I’m just looking forward to saying, ‘Good evening . . . and welcome to Top Billing”, said Simba.
