With the growth of Sports Science, modern day training has become very competitive. Athletes can no longer succeed purely on natural ability; the level of success now depends on taking athletes to the absolute ceiling of their genetic potential. The role of speed and agility training is vitally important in order to enhance an athlete’s on-field performance. An athlete cannot develop speed and agility to their full potential by purely part-tacking in a sport (for example rugby, netball or soccer), as a coach or conditioning specialist one must add additional exercises to improve speed and agility.
