The BCom in Marketing and Management Science has been approved by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and will be offered by the IMM GSM over and above the current offering of the BBA in Marketing Management. The South African Qualification Authority ID number is 90737.
The BCom in Marketing and Management Science combines the marketing function with associated support functions such as distribution, logistics and project management with a strong focus on business research. This qualification is aimed at fulfilling a management role in the industry and therefore has a strong business focus. The BCom in Marketing and Management Science will provide students with specialised marketing and management knowledge as well as the skills to apply that knowledge in order to further their careers through academic studies.

Programme information
The BCom in Marketing and Management Science is offered at level 7 of the NQF (HEQSF aligned) and consists of 360 credits. This qualification comprises 19 compulsory modules.
Admission requirements
Admission requirements for prospective students who have matriculated up to and including 2007:
- Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with university exemption, plus a mark of at least 40% on higher grade or 50% on standard grade in Mathematics.
- A CV and RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) application is required from prospective students over 23 years of age, who have no Senior Certificate, but have written and passed at least 4 matric subjects. The CV must include work-related experience. SAPS affidavit stating that they did not obtain a Senior Certificate must be included.
Admission requirements for prospective students who matriculated or exited the school system from 2008:
- National Senior Certificate (NSC) with an achievement rating of 4 (50 – 59%) in at least four recognised 20-credit subjects, including an achievement rating of at least 3 (40 – 49%) in English home language or 4 (50 – 59%) in English first additional language, plus an achievement rating of at least 3 (40 – 49%) in Mathematics or 5 (60 – 69%) in Mathematical Literacy.
- The student must have met the minimum requirements for admission to a degree programme at a higher education institution.

The BCom in Marketing and Management Science can be completed within a minimum of three years study. The BCom in Marketing and Management Science must be completed within eight years.
Students who have completed the BCom in Marketing and Management Science may apply to study the Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management or the BPhil (Hons) in Marketing Management.

- Articulation from the BBA in Marketing Management to the BCom in Marketing and Management Science, and visa versa
- New Students who articulate during the first 12 months of studies:
- New students who register for the BCom in Marketing and Management Science and who want to articulate to the BBA in Marketing Management may do so during their first 12 months of study only.
- New students are required to:
- Complete the BBA in Marketing Management Articulation form.
- Students who select this option must take note that credits will be awarded for all successfully completed BCom modules.
- Provide a covering letter requesting the IMM GSM to change the registration from the BCom in Marketing and Management Science to the BBA in Marketing Management. Students will not be allowed to study towards two programmes concurrently.
- New students who register for the BBA in Marketing Management and who want to articulate to the BCom in Marketing and Management Science may do so during their first 12 months of study only.
- New students are required to:
- Complete the BCom in Marketing and Management Science Articulation form.
- Students who select this option must take note that credits will be awarded for all successfully completed BBA modules.

- Students who select this option must take note that credits will be awarded for all successfully completed BBA modules.
- Provide a covering letter requesting the IMM GSM to change the registration from the BBA in Marketing Management to the BCom in Marketing and Management Science. Students will not be allowed to study towards two programmes concurrently.
- Students who are registered for the BBA in Marketing Management for the 2012 academic year or prior, and who want to articulate to the BCom in Marketing and Management Science, must do so no later than 1 March 2014.
- Students who are currently studying towards the BBA in Marketing Management (non-graduated students) and who wish to articulate to the BCom in Marketing and Management Science, would be required to:-
- New Students who articulate during the first 12 months of studies:
- Articulation from the Diploma in Marketing Management to the BCom in Marketing and Management Science
- New students who register with the IMM GSM for the first time:
- New students who register for the Diploma in Marketing Management and who have met the admission requirements to study towards a degree programme and who want to articulate to the BCom in Marketing and Management Science may do so during their first 12 months of study only.
- New students, would be required to:-
- Complete the BCom in Marketing and Management Science Articulation form.
- Students who select this option must take note that credits will be awarded for all successfully completed Diploma in Marketing Management modules.
- Provide a covering letter requesting the IMM GSM to change the registration from the Diploma in Marketing Management to the BCom in Marketing and Management Science. Students will not be allowed to study towards two programmes concurrently.
- Students who have been registered with the IMM GSM prior to the 2013 academic year:
- Students who are currently studying towards the Diploma in Marketing Management (non-graduated students) and who wish to articulate to the BCom in Marketing and Management Science would be required to:-
- Qualify for degree entry as per the entrance requirements.
- Complete the BCom in Marketing and Management Science Articulation form.
- Provide a covering letter requesting the IMM GSM to change the registration from the Diploma in Marketing Management to the BCom in Marketing and Management Science. Students will not be allowed to study towards two programmes concurrently.
- Students who are currently studying towards the Diploma in Marketing Management (non-graduated students) and who wish to articulate to the BCom in Marketing and Management Science would be required to:-

The articulation from the Diploma in Marketing Management to the BCom in Marketing and Management Science consists of ten compulsory modules. The articulation must be completed in four years.

The articulation from the Diploma in Marketing to the BCom in Marketing and Management Science consists of 9 compulsory modules. The articulation must be completed within four years. Students are not required to write Academic Literacy 1 as Business Communication was completed on the Diploma in Marketing.
