The Isa Carstens group of companies was founded in 1978 and started as a private tertiary provider with just 9 students. Under the disciplined guidance and dynamic leadership of Mrs Isa Carstens, the Academy arguably became the leading provider of Health and Skin Care tuition in South Africa and positioned itself among the best in the world.

Our reputation for excellence is built on our adherence to international quality standards and the value of trusted relationships. The Isa Carstens® Academy was the first CIDESCO-recognised institution in South Africa based solely on the quality of our programmes.

In 1993 Mrs Isabel Carstens-Roos, the daughter Mrs Isa Carstens became the Managing Director of the business and her husband Mr Gerhard Roos came on board to assist in what was soon becoming a very successful private higher tertiary provider. It was time to take the success of the business even further in 1995 when the Postgraduate Diploma was successfully launched which in 2011 became a 3 year NQF level 6 Diploma in Somatologynow positioning the Academy as a market leader.

In 2002, the management team seized the opportunity to open the Nail Academy.

The growth continued in 2005 with the opening of a public facing skin care clinic namely the Isa Carstens Wellness Sanctuary which continues to be a preferred salon while also providing students the opportunity to gain much needed work integrated learning hours toward their course. We listened to the needs of our students and in turn offer students comfortable accommodation through our hostel The Isa Dameskoshuis which is conveniently located a few minutes work from our campus.
