Sport Facilities:

Sports facilities on campus include two basketball/netball courts, one tennis court, 2 playing fields large enough to accommodate soccer, rugby and touch rugby as well as a squash court and beach volleyball court.  Students compete in the following sports:

  • Tennis
  • Soccer
  • Touch rugby
  • Basketball
  • Chess
  • Netball

MGI’s men’s basketball team has once again come out on top in the Gauteng Basketball League against bigger teams like Wits, VUT and Grace Bible Church. Sport on campus is organised by the Student Representative Council with the assistance of a portfolio committee and the Sports and Events Coordinator. MGI also has the following active clubs:

  • Debating team
  • Poetry club
  • MGI Choir
  • Salsa dance
  • Kickboxing club

In addition to the above MGI also has a swimming pool which is used for recreational purposes by our students. The centrally-situated giant outdoor chessboard provides an ever-popular relaxation venue for students and staff alike.  Sports days against other tertiary institutions as well as interfaculty sports days’ takes place on an annual basis, and impromptu volleyball games at every other available opportun
