Competition to design UKZN med school logo announced

An international competition to design the University of KwaZulu-Natal's new medical teaching hospital was announced in Durban by Motsoaledi. The competition, sponsored by the International Academy for Design and Health, was expected to save the government between R300 and R500 million on design fees. The new Nelson R Mandela Medical School and Hospital will replace the university's current medical school, also named Nelson R Mandela, which is attached to the King Edward VIII hospital. View [+]

It's Monday and it's Day 5 in our series of words of wisdom given from Sir Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group, to leadership mentor Robin Sharma. Take notes. Lesson 5: Be a Radical Innovator. When Richard was a young entrepreneur with nothing more than the little college newspaper The Student, he still showed a lust for disregarding all the rules. He challenged the status quo. And disrupted what was considered normal. An example: he somehow was able to get John Lennon to do an original piece of music for him. He then put the song on a special disc and packaged it into the newspaper, right next to the interview he’d done on the rock ‘n roll legend. At Virgin Records, he recruited the Sex Pistols and reinvented a whole category of music. At Virgin Atlantic, he gave passengers massages on airplanes and dropped them home in limos. Salute Team SA, back from London Paralymics with 29 medals

Team South Africa ended their 2012 Paralympic Games campaign on Saturday night with a total of 29 medals. The final day of South African participation saw the team winning a further five medals. Those medals came from Dyan Buis (silver, T38 200-metre), Kevin Paul (silver, S9 100m breaststroke), Fanie van der Merwe (gold, T12 100m, Anruné Liebenberg (silver, T46, 400m) and Oscar “Blade Runner” Pistorius who put the seal on a successful Paralympics when he won the T44 400m .
