Who we are
Established in 1904, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is the world’s largest accountancy body with 162 000 members and 426 000 students in 173 countries. In 1913 the South African branch was opened in Johannesburg– the first branch outside of the UK.
We offer business-relevant, first-choice, qualifications to people of application, ability and ambition, who seek a rewarding career in accountancy, finance and management.
The ACCA qualification is an alternative, but equivalent route to the traditional academic route into the accountancy profession. This route allows new entrants from matriculant-level and well-seasoned professionals to obtain business-relevant, internationally recognised accounting qualifications, which embrace global best practice.
ACCA SA has accredited the B Com degrees of 14 universities and 13 private higher education institutions in South Africa. Further to that the qualifications of 12 professional institutes has been assessed for exemption purposes. To access a comprehensive list click on: http://bit.ly/12QnQMi. Students from accredited institutions receive up to 9 exemptions and are only required to complete five papers for the ACCA Professional qualification.
A number of delivery options are available, including, self-paced learning, self-study, and part-time classes, with various entry and exit points.
We support our members throughout their careers, through our network of 83 offices. Our global infrastructure means that exams are delivered and supported at a local level, benefiting stakeholders, wherever they are based.
Our focus is on professional values, ethics and governance. We use our expertise and experience to work with governments, regulators, professional bodies and employers to develop the global accountancy profession and to act in the public interest.
