The finances of municipalities are being put under the spotlight as ratepayers and public-spending watchdogs demand greater accountability in budgeting and spending. This programme is aimed specifically at developing the capacity of students already working in the field, typically as finance officers. It is also a requirement for membership of the Institute of Municipal Finance Officers (IMFO).
