Logistics is the science of ensuring that the right product gets to the right place at the right time and in the right quantity, whether to wholesalers, retailers or end-users. This necessitates ongoing collaboration with internal marketing, sales and production staff, as well as with external suppliers and customers. It also calls for an in-depth understanding of logistics technologies, strategic sourcing and distribution channels, as well as the ability to match supply and demand through quantitative modelling. This degree incorporates all these capabilities, together with a broad background in business management, economics and accounting.
